It sounds like Joker will not be as involved with the kicking game as Coach Brooks and give more freedom to Steve Ortmayer. I always felt our kickers were under a ton of pressure, maybe this will be a good thing, only time will tell.
The team practiced in shorts and helmets, so things will be different when they get into full gear. Based on feedback, Hartline made the most plays, Mossakowski throws the best ball and Newton didn't have a very good day. Newton is probably putting a lot of pressure on himself right now and needs to relax and play his game.
Most feel the linebackers could be the fastest group to ever play at UK which is huge. Remember, speed kills! We should have a good idea of the starting group by the end of spring (assuming no injuries).
David Turner was very intense and will need to push this defensive line group to have them over achieve. The defensive line is my biggest concern for this team. Per Larry Vaught, the defensive coaches yelled the most in 10 years.
It sounds like the secondary guys looked great in drills, but again things will change once they put on the pads. I've hard Jarvis Walker looked really good and I've wondered if the Cats would consider moving him to outside linebacker. With Matt Lentz leaving the program, maybe the staff will consider.
Both Kyrus Lanxter (WR) and Brandon Thurmond (LB) are not listed on the spring roster currently. It has been rumored Lanxter was leaving the program to focus on school.
