This past weekend I had the opportunity to interview Mike Wegzyn (2011-QB) from Knoxville, TN. Mike informed me he is “excited” and the “process has been really good so far”. Currently Mike has offers from Buffalo and Eastern Michigan. He is receiving interest from Northwestern, Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Kentucky, Auburn, Boston College and Arkansas.
All of the schools above are sending him mail on a regular basis, while Northwestern, Maryland, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas came to his school for evaluations. Currently Mike has no favorites as he said, “I’m trying to see what happens and weighing all my options.”
Mike will camp at Kentucky on May 30th, Vanderbilt on June 6th and also attend the Elite 11 camps this coming weekend in Alabama. One interesting note is Mike has worked with former Kentucky quarterback Ryan Hockman in the past. Hockman informed me he hasn’t worked with Mike in over a year, but will see him this weekend.
Mike is looking for a program where he feels comfortable with the staff and a school which will prepare him to become an Orthopedic Surgeon. He currently has an ACT score of 23, but working to get a higher score. He is listed at 6’5” and 213 lbs. He runs a 4.79 forty yard dash.
